Justice Odunga among three judges to hear ballot papers case

Chief Justice David Maraga has formed a three-judge bench to hear opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) ballot papers printing tender case.

Justices Joel Ngugi, George Odunga and John Mativo, will now hear and determine the case by NASA which is challenging IEBC ballot printing tender awarded to Dubai-based firm, Al Ghurair.

Earlier, High Court Judge, George Odunga, declined to stop the ballot paper printing exercise by Al Ghurair and instead referred the case to the Chief Justice to form a bench that will hear the case from Tuesday next week.

The Judge also allowed Jubilee Party, Third Way Alliance presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot and Attorney General Prof. Githu Muigai to be enjoined in the case.

NASA wants the Al Ghurair stopped from printing the ballot papers for the August 8 polls due to claims of close links between President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family and the Dubai-based firm.
