Kabete Mini-Poll will be Fair, Free and Secure, Says IEBC

Kabete’s IEBC returning officer Esther Wanjiku said that security will be sufficient during the exercise, saying 184 security officials will be manning the 33 polling centres spread across five wards in the constituency.

Speaking in Kabete, Wanjiku said IEBC will use the 2013 voters register as the latest register is not updated and voters will be allowed to use ID cards or passports to vote.

GEORGE MUCHAI MURDER

Kabete parliamentary seat, which has attracted nine candidates, fell vacant after the then Kabete MP George Muchai was murdered on February 7th in Nairobi.

Kabete has 62470 registered voters and, according to the IEBC, a total of 750 clerks and presiding officers will preside over the voting exercise which will start at 6am and end at 5pm.

She further added that where there will be delays, voting will be extended to cover for time lost.

Others present were the IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba, Commissioner Yussuf Nzibo and IT Regional Manager Eva Nyambura.
