Kabogo accuses opponents of buying ID cards from voters

Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo, has cautioned Kiambu residents against selling their Identity Cards. He termed it as his opponents’ game to play cheap politics.

Kabogo, who was accused of pioneering the buying of ID cards from Kiambu residents, denied the allegations terming it a ploy by the opponents to frame him.

He dismissed Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu’s claims that he was the mastermind of the ongoing purchase of IDs for Ksh 500 in the region.

The county boss noted that the culprits in the scheme were asking residents to sell them their IDs under his name.

He asked the residents to hand over the culprits to the security forces for interrogation since they were tainting his image and name.

“I do not know for how long my opponents will play cheap politics. They have hired youths who are visiting homes and collecting IDs from other young people, claiming they are from the county government,” he said.

“Arrest them and take them to chiefs or police. They are my opponents’ agents paid to do that dirty job.”

Kabogo was speaking during the launch of Limuru modern market aiming to accommodate more than 300 people.

Kabogo is running on an independent ticket after losing to Ferdinand Waititu in the Jubilee party primaries.

On Monday, the governor wrote to the authorities asking them to investigate Waititu’s claims over the issue and maintained that the allegations were propaganda to defame him.
