Kaimenyi set to issue controversial Mwea title deeds

Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti on Saturday announced that Cabinet Secretary for lands Jacob Kaimenyi will on on 26 August 2016 issue title deeds to the controversial Mwea land scheme.

“CS for lands Jacob Kaimenyi has already confirmed the dates when the 7,232 title deeds will be issued to all the beneficiaries of the approximated 44,000 piece of land.” assured Kivuti.

In a move deemed to end wrangles that have dogged the land for the last three decades ,with numerous court cases files by various interested parties, Kivuti noted that the the land row had turned into a political tool which he says is likely to divide  the county residents who have lived in harmony.

According to Embu County Executive Committee for lands Josphat Kithumbu , the process has been grueling negotiation between the various groups of elders who have since agreed to divide the land peacefully and move on.

Kithumbu dismissed new cases filed in court saying that all elder groups and interested parties have already withdrawn the cases to pave way for sub division.

Kithumbu however noted that while there is need for all the residents to be given a share in order to quell any dissatisfaction among the residents,  the land in question is not enough.

He has therefore called upon those who will lose out to accept and move on.
