Kaimenyi Suspends School Levies

The government has ordered all public secondary schools to immediately drop all the increments effected on this year's school fees and all other school levies. making the announcement education cabinet secretary professor Jacob Kaimenyi said a task force will be constituted to investigate schools accused of introducing dubious levies and raising school fees above the government approved fee structure. The task force will, if necessary, review the current school fees. It is not clear if the affected schools will be forced to refund to the parents and sponsors who have already settled first term fees. The orders coming a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta directed that disciplinary action be taken against heads of such schools. Judy Kosgei reports.
