Kajiado demos paralyse transport between Kenya and Tanzania
Transport between Kenya and Tanzania was on Monday paralysed after residents of Ilbisil town in Kajiado Central barricaded the Namanga-Nairobi highway protesting alleged harassment by Tanzanian police.
According to reports, the protests erupted after three Kenyan men plying their trade in the transport sector were allegedly arrested and beaten by Tanzanian authorities.
Motorists on the busy road were left stranded as the protests caused a huge traffic snarl up on the busy highway.
Area residents vowed not to allow any business from Tanzania if their grievances are not heard and resolved.
Normal transport flow was, however, restored after Kajiado Deputy County commissioner Charles Wambugu arrived at the scene with police officers.
