Kajiado leaders accuse Jubilee of sluggishness in handling banditry

A section of opposition leaders from Kajiado County have faulted the government on the way it has handled the banditry threat in the troubled North Rift region which has since been referred to as ‘bandits paradise’.

A series of banditry attacks in Baringo, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet and Laikipia Counties prompted the government to deploy the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to contain the menace.

According to the leaders, the Jubilee Administration has failed miserably in dealing with the situation, ridiculing the government’s sluggish nature of taking right decisions at the expense of Kenyans’ lives.

Kajiado County Governor, David Nkedienye, accused the government of being reluctant in handling the situation saying that the communities living in the volatile areas have been neglected for being a ‘minority’.

He urged the government to ensure security for all despite their political affiliations.

On his part, Kajiado Central Member of Parliament, Elijah Memusi, accused the government of incompetence in dealing with insecurity in the country.

“We are condemning the killings in Baringo and we are asking Jubilee government to put the lives of people first,” said the Lawmaker.

The leaders, who were speaking at a campaign rally in the county, maintained that the region is an opposition stronghold.
