Kakamega: Family distress after a 36-year-old man takes their Class 7 daughter as third wife

A family from Elukaka village in Butsotso Kakamega County now wants the government to intervene in arresting a 36-year-old man who has married their 15-year-old daughter.

Everlyne Mudogo Ikhungu who is the child’s mother says that her child who was attending a private school eloped with their neighbour.

The two started living together from February 2020 with attempts of reporting the matter to the authorities ending in futility.

The suspect who has been identified as Nelson Mandela (no relation to the late South African president) and was recently arrested over the matter and spent two months in the slammer.

The girl’s parents say posted bail after two months and upon his release he eloped with the girl for the second time.

“My child dropped out of school in class 7 and has not returned home, she was briefly at home for two months but when the suspect came from jail, she has now re-united with him, and they are living together,” the girl’s mother told Radio Ramogi.

The man in question, reports indicate is married to two different women with whom he sired five children.

Parents of the school-going girl are now concerned because the suspect had also married his two wives while they were still minors in Primary school.

“He will corrupt and destroy the future of our child whom we are told is now living at his house, its is very heartbreaking,” the child’s mother added.

The family wants the government to get involved in ensuring the suspected paedophile is brought to book and their daughter back to school.
