Kakamega: Students protest over alleged rape of two first years
Students of Bushiangala Training Institute in Ikolomani sub-county, Kakamega County, on Wednesday held protests over alleged sexual assault of two of their first year colleagues.
The two girls who were residing in hostels outside the university premises were reportedly attacked on Tuesday night by a gang of robbers before being assaulted.
The incident caused anger in the institution as hundreds of students took to the streets and closed down the Sigalagala – Bukura road complaining of insecurity rise in the region.
The visibly agitated students further revealed that most of them have previously been attacked and some left seriously injured.
Area OCPD Shari Komora, however, showed up at the scene and regained calm among the students.
