Kakamega: Woman hacks husband to death in suspected revenge mission

A woman in Malava Constituency, Kakamega County is in police custody after hacking her husband to death with a hoe (jembe) following a domestic dispute.

44-year-old Suzzy Shikuku killed her husband Benjamin Shikuku, 55, on Tuesday night at their home before surrendering herself to the police on Wednesday morning.

Confirming the incident, area chief Nickson Teka said the couple has been embroiled in recurrent disputes mainly due to the husband’s penchant for alcohol.

According to the chief, the man had a habit of coming home drunk and causing a fight with the wife.

A brother to the deceased said the two were in a rocky marriage and the family had several times come in to reconcile them.

The man’s body was taken to the Webuye Hospital mortuary while the woman was detained at Malava Police Station.
