Kakuzi LTD-Muranga County Brawl Over Access Of Roads

The case which was to take place at the high court to determine whether the injunction shall remain or be removed did not proceed in the interest of the high court which is still on vacation.

The case therefore comes up for mention on 2nd October this year.

The matter comes barely two months after the County government of Murang’a Top administration held a consultative meeting with the management of the multi-national company seeking to unlock a dispute that would allow re opening of public access roads.

The team led by Murang’a governor Mr Mwangi wa Iria and County Commissioner Ms Kula Hache has been holding a series of meetings with management of the Kakuzi limited to help reopening of the closed roads.

However the company rushed to court and obtained an injunction to bar the opening.

There has been attempts by the residents and local administrators to resolve the matter amicably but didn’t work therefore culminating to a decision by County government that the access roads should be open but it was too late.

On their part, the residents of Kangangu and Mangoto in Murang’a South district who had come to listen to the case said that they have remained land rocked since independence following orders to have public roads closed.

They said that the management of Kakuzi ordered closure of the public roads and issuance of pass cards to those allowed by the management.

The residents complained that their school going children are forced to use other alternative ways through thickets to get to school adding that many end up being raped by unknown assailants.
