Kalonzo bribing MCAs to finish me Alfred Mutua

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has alleged a plot by Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka to ‘finish’ him politically.

In an interview with Citizen TV’s Anne Kiguta on Sunday Live, Mutua claimed that he does not trust Wiper party leadership and is not contemplating running for governor on the party ticket in 2017.

“Kalonzo has been trying to frustrate me since I became governor. He has been calling MCAs in a bid to orchestrate my ouster; and they are ready to confirm that.”

“I do not believe in the Wiper leadership and do not trust party leader Kalonzo Musyoka because at one point he is inviting me over for coffee and the next minute he is calling MCAs to plot for my downfall,” noted Mutua.

The Machakos governor further revealed that he will not be defending his position in the next elections on a CORD or Jubilee party ticket, obliquely pointing at the possibility of consummating his Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement into a party of choice for his reelection bid.

He stated that despite opposition from a section of members of Machakos County Assembly, majority of the MCAs are working with him because they believe in his development agenda.

“I have, in my camp, Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka and several MPs from Makueni, Kitui and Machakos. Other legislators are scared of joining me for fear of intimidation from Wiper supremo.”

Absent without leave?

Mutua also explained his month-long absence from the county saying he had gone to look for jobs for the youth.

“I think people panicked because I went to bring goodies for the people of Machakos County,” said Mutua, albeit lightly.

“I went to Tanzania, one of our largest trading partners, to look for possible partnership in agriculture. I also went to Dubai and Abu Dhabi to look for jobs for our youth and managed to secure 2,000 jobs for those with diplomas and degrees to go and work as professionals for two to three years.”

“Ashok Leyland is also interested in setting up a manufacturing plant of motor vehicles in Machakos and this will sprout other industries around it leading to youth employment.”

“Three different fruit factories are also planning to set up base in the county and this will improve the living standards of farmers since their fruits will no longer go to waste.”

He said that the genesis of the fray with Kalonzo has been orchestrated by his development-oriented leadership with is being juxtaposed against Kalonzo’s record.

“We have brought up a new way of thinking and when you do that you are in line for opposition. Change has however come and with the new Constitution we have the opportunity of transforming not only Ukambani but the entire region,” he said.

“Hard questions are being asked in Ukambani. People are questioning what Kalonzo has done in the over thirty years that he has been the region’s supposed kingpin and that is causing discomfort.

Mutua noted that he is focused on helping the people of Ukambani and effecting development adding that there will be a wave in the region, but it will not be a Wiper wave.
