Kalonzo got a raw deal in NASA lineup Ukambani leaders

Leaders from the Ukambani region led by Kitui West MP, Francis Nyenze, and Kitui Senator, David Musila, now claim that Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, got a raw deal in the opposition NASA line-up.

According to Nyenze, Kalonzo was shortchanged in the last minute and the lineup was reached without proper consultations.

“It came as a shocker. Why did Kalonzo agree to be a running mate when all along he had told us he will not play second fiddle to anybody?” posed Nyenze.

“We told our people that Kalonzo will be the flag bearer, and because of this change we have to sit and agree and if NASA calls for a meeting we will not attend,” he added.

Speaking to the media, Musila noted that none of the Ukambani Members of Parliament attended the unveiling of NASA flag bearer at Uhuru Park on Thursday saying that that was in protest of the lineup.

“Most members of our team appear not to be aware of what the MOU says. Our party leader entered into the agreement without consultation. We want the party leader to meet us and tell us what is involved. I am sure other parties have talked but for wiper we have not,” said Musila.

“No Member of Parliament from Ukambani attended the NASA rally yesterday (Thursday, April 27). That was a protest. If we do not resolve this we will not attend any rallies,” insisted Nyenze.

While claiming that the party was in disarray, the Deputy Minority Leader in the National Assembly urged the Wiper leadership to resolve the issues at hand.

“Something is really wrong with Wiper and the leader should look into that. He needs to restore the house in order,” added the visibly angry Nyenze.

This comes just a day after the National Super Alliance (NASA) unveiled former Prime Minister, Raila Amollo Odinga, as its presidential flag bearer deputized by Kalonzo.

The Amani National Congress (ANC) leader, Musalia Mudavadi will be the Premier Cabinet Secretary in charge of the state department of internal security and administration of the national government while Ford Kenya leader and Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula, will be the Deputy Premier in charge of the public sector while the Chama Cha Mashinani party leader and Bomet Governor will be the Deputy Premier in charge of the Devolution Sector.

This followed months of negotiations that almost saw the coalition break up following leakage to the media that the opposition line up that would take on Uhuru-Ruto come August.
