Kalonzo hits out at Governor Mutua over absenteeism

Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has criticized Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua for apparent absenteeism from work.

Speaking for the first time on the matter, Kalonzo said that Mutua’s unexplained absence from duty has created a leadership vacuum in the county with some of the main roles under his purview stalling.

According to Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala, Mutua has been out of office for over a month leaving some of his key roles pending.

Kiala said that the county assembly would have to take a decisive action on Mutua’s conduct after the one-week notice if he will not have resumed duty.

In a stern remark on Saturday, Kalonzo said that Mutua must report back to work ahead of a planned meeting to discuss his conduct and seek advisory opinion on the implications of his absence.

Kalonzo also put ‘rebel’ wiper legislators on notice saying the party will not hesitate to crack the whip on those contravening party policies.

On education, the CORD co-principal called on the government to reintroduce the ranking of schools in order to effect competition in the sector.

Matungulu MP Stephen Mutinda Mule called for the arrest of Mutua upon his arrival in the country in connection with corruption allegations in his government.

The leaders were speaking during the official opening of Kyandu Bright Academy in Kangundo Constituency.
