Kalonzo: I will be there to welcome Uhuru in Ukambani

Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to join the opposition in their quest to remove the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners from office.

Kalonzo said although the constitution is clear that the President has no powers to remove the commissioners, he can join the growing number of dissatisfied Kenyans who want a new commission in place to prepare for a free and fair election in 2017.

The Wiper leader said the country cannot afford another stolen election and thus their resolve to have the commissioners of the IEBC forced to resign to guarantee the sanctity of the vote.

“No one asked Uhuru to sack the commissioners because that is not his responsibility but he can add his voice if he cares for this country. We cannot afford to have another stolen election, Kenyans will not accept,” said Kalonzo

Kalonzo confirmed that the CORD’s date to the IEBC offices at the anniversary towers on the 9th  still stands.

On Uhuru’s visit to the Ukambani region, Kalonzo said he will be there to welcome him to the region adding that development is a peoples right under the new constitution not a privilege.

He said the times of “mtukufu rais tunaomba” are long gone and Uhuru’s visit will serve to actualize what rightfully belongs to the people.

Kalonzo said the commissioning of the Kibwezi – Mutomo- Kitui road is long overdue and its commencement will serve as a relieve after a five year “artificial” delay by the Jubilee regime.

“I commissioned this very important road as the Vice president in 2012, we took the contractor to the ground and treasury had assured that works was to start in two months then” said Kalonzo.
