Kalonzo, Mudavadi, Wetangula speak out after ‘swearing-in’

Opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula say they are still united in the NASA coalition despite skipping the ‘swearing in’ of Raila Odinga.

In a statement issued after the ‘swearing in’ ceremony, the three opposition co-principals did not explain why they were a no-show at the ‘inauguration’ of Mr. Odinga as the people’s president.

They, however, said the NASA Summit comprising Odinga and the three of them remains “strong and united”.

“Yesterday, 29 January 2018 as the four NASA Principals we had a lengthy meeting where we revisited the controversial Election of 8th August 2018, which was nullified by the Supreme Court, as well as the boycotted election of 26 October 2017 and our reform agenda and in particular electoral justice, among other important issues.

“We agreed to meet again this morning. However, due to circumstances beyond our comprehension and control, the four of us did not assemble as planned,” read the statement.

The three opposition leaders said the NASA Summit will meet within two days, to address the “immense challenges facing this country”.

After being ‘sworn in’, Odinga issued a brief address where he said Kalonzo Musyoka would take his oath at a later date.

The opposition chief further said what caused his co-principals to skip the event would be disclosed soon.
