This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday also visited the retired Commander-in-Chief to condole with him.

Deputy President William Ruto, however, opted to visit Jonathan’s home in Kabimoi village, Baringo County, on Wednesday.

Moi family Press Secretary Lee Njiru on Saturday last week confirmed that the safari rally enthusiast succumbed to cancer at a hospital in Nakuru.

“Jonathan will be remembered for his daring exploits in the racing tracks, in muddy and dusty tracks, during this time of Easter,” his brother Gideon Moi said in a statement.

The Baringo Senator described his sibling as an “amiable, social and down – to – earth and industrious” person.

“We are distraught as family and we ask for your prayers and seek your understanding and indulgence to allow us mourn privately,” he added.

Jonathan Moi stayed away from the limelight after vying for the Eldama Ravine parliamentary seat in 2002.

He chose to concentrate on his businesses in the agriculture, real estate and insurance sectors.

The 66-year-old was mostly known for his love of Safari Rally that saw him participate in several competitions.

He was the first-born son to former President Moi and his late wife Lena.

His siblings are Gideon, Jennifer, John Mark, Raymond, Philip, June and Doris.
