Kalonzo says CORD affiliate parties will not merge

Wiper leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, has claimed that the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) will not merge into one party saying their aim is to nurture democracy within the coalition.

Kalonzo stated that unlike Jubilee which decided to dissolve and form one party, CORD will allow each party (ODM, Ford Kenya and Wiper) to grow at individual level while consolidating support for the next elections.

“We saw Jubilee parties swallowing each other as they formed one party. That is not something we are considering as CORD,” he said.

He called on his co-principals, Raila Odinga (ODM) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya), to support his 2017 presidential bid and ensure he wins the next polls.

“I have been sacrificing for a long time and this time round I wish my friends in CORD put me first. I am the only candidate who can defeat Jubilee in the 2017 polls,” he said.

Kalonzo called on the people of the Coast region to support Wiper as it seeks to consolidate its support-base in the country.

Mombasa Senator, Hassan Omar, called on the people of Coast region to support him in his Mombasa governorship bid saying he has what it takes to improve the lives of the people.

“If you must change your region, you can do that through good leaders, not those who are in a constant party mode,” he said.

The leaders were speaking on the first day of Wiper’s tour of the Coast region that will end with a major rally at Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa.
