Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has hinted that his party is working on a post-poll deal with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party ahead of the 2022 election.

Speaking with Citizen TV’s Sam Gituku on Monday morning, Kalonzo said Wiper was consulting with other stakeholders ANC, ODM and Ford Kenya.

“Wiper will be ready to enter into a coalition with both Jubilee and KANU when that time comes, at the moment, we are bound by rules of the coalition with NASA,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo further explained that in a recent Wiper NEC meeting, the party voted to look into the legality of the existing coalition with NASA in order to best position itself for the 2022 showdown.

The latest comes against the backdrop of a post-election coalition deal inked and deposited at the Registrar of Political parties between the Jubilee Party and KANU.

The deal, according to insiders will see either KANU chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi or West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio replace Kipchumba Murkomen majority leader in the Senate.

Also set to be replaced is Majority Whip in the Senate, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika who as a Ruto ally, has been seen as going against the president’s Jubilee agenda.

Ms Kihika’s replacement, insiders say, will most likely be Nairobi senator Johnstone Sakaja who is allied to President Kenyatta.

The president’s inner circle is claiming President Kenyatta is gradually taking charge of his teams in the house and firming up the numbers with his political friends.

The process was set off by the changes at the party’s powerful National Management Committee (NMC) that was protested by Deputy President William Ruto himself.

Ruto led the onslaught only for it to come a cropper with the Party’s Secretary General Raphael Tuju forcing the changes through.

In Monday’s meeting should Murkomen and Kihika be dropped, the president’s focus will be targeted at reorganizing parliamentary committees both at the National assembly and the Senate with those perceived as Ruto allies and dissidents being shown the door.

It is check mate as the DP and the President shadow boxing now goes full-blown.
