Kalonzo Under Fire Over ‘Tribal’ Remark

Musyoka found himself on the receiving end when he refused to answer a journalist's question by retorting ' your name betrays it all, I have nothing more to say"

He was referring to a question posed to him by QTV reporter Kennedy Muriithi.

The journalist had asked the CORD Principal why CORD was not offering alternative leadership.

But an unhappy Musyoka went ahead to ask the reporter what his name was before dismissing him.

The former Vice President has however apologized to Muriithi and Kenyans for the remarks saying he made it on a light touch.

Muriithi however denies receiving an apology from Kalonzo.

The incident  appears to have angered Kenyans with many expressing their concern over Musyoka's statement.

The statement was awash in the social media as the news conference by the CORD leaders was being aired live by one of the television station.

Many of the people through the social media demanded an apology from the former Vice President saying it was wrong for a national leader to dismiss a journalist merely because of his ethnicity.

Journalists countrywide also took on the CORD principal terming his remarks "backward and unacceptable".

Under the trend #SomeoneTellKalonzo, journalists expressed their disappointment with the statement.

Kalonzo was speaking during a CORD press briefing at Serena to give a score card of the Jubilee administration.

The hashtag #SomeoneTellKalonzo continues to trend in Nairobi.
