Kalonzos son, Oburu Odinga lead NASAs list of EALA nominees

The National Super Alliance (NASA) Coalition on Thursday submitted twelve names to the National Assembly for consideration as nominees to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

Notable figures on the list include Oburu Odinga, the brother to opposition chief Raila Odinga, NASA Chief Executive Officer Norman Magaya and Kennedy Musyoka, son to former Vice President, Kalonzo Musyoka.

Other NASA nominees are Fatuma Ibrahim, Jane Marwa, Abdikadir Aden and Beth Mutunga.

Abubakar Zain, Loy Maviala, Angela Munyaysya, Justus Mochoge and Winfred Mutua complete the list that was submitted to the clerks of the National Assembly and Senate by minority leaders, John Mbadi and Moses Wetangula.

A letter to the clerk by Mbadi confirmed the list of twelve.

“Following the request in regard to the nomination to the East African legislative assembly, NASA coalition has consulted and agreed on the proposed names,” says Mbadi.

Jubilee had earlier presented their list of fifteen names to the clerk of the National Assembly.

Upon receiving the list of EALA nominees from the political parties, the clerks will submit the names to the vetting committee which will then compile a report that will be submitted to Parliament, pending approval or rejection of the names.

EALA is the legislative organ of the East African Community (EAC).
