Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho now says he has presented his qualifications to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) seeking the party nod to be its 2022 presidential flagbearer.

Joho said he will emerge the winner, telling off his critics that his ambition to lead the country is unstoppable.

“Na mimi nimewaambia ODM, chama ambayo nimepeleka karatasi zangu za mchujo, I will go all the way. Nikishinda waniunge, na ntashinda,” he said.

The Mombasa County chief, who spoke in Mvita while issuing bursary cheques to over 3,500 learners in the constituency, expressed optimism that he will emerge the winner.

“Nimeambia yale majimbo ambayo tumefanya nao siasa, tumewaunga miaka kadhaa, na sasa watuunge. Tumewasaidia, watusaidie. Tumewabeba, watubebe. Tumewaskuma, watuskume. Shida iko wapi?” He posed.

Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, on his part, said; “Katika walioijenga ODM, Hassan Ali Joho ni mmoja wao. We will not desert a house that we built to go and build another one from scratch. We deserve to be the leader of that house that we took part and parcel of building. We deserve a seat on top, and not to be told that we have to be caucuses so that we support another candidate.”

Joho, who has faced criticism from a number of leaders in the Coastal region, is now telling his critics that the journey to State House is unstoppable.

“Ali Hassan Joho, kama unataka kuwa rais katika taifa hili, kwanza jitoe katika makwapa ya Raila Odinga,” Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has previously told the governor.

Joho however says, “Kama Uhuru ywaweza, mimi naweza. Kama Raila anaweza, mimi naweza. What is the difference? Si ni uongozi? Na uongozi ni uadilifu, na sisi ndio headquarter ya uadilifu.

The Mombasa Governor has been touring various counties at the Coast calling for Coastal unity that he says would be key in his 2022 presidential ambitions.
