Kamau: I Am Ready to Be Probed Over Railway Tender

The Cabinet Secretary says he is ready to appear before the two parliamentary committees probing the controversial multi billion tender for the project.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Cheche show, Engineer Kamau said the tendering process was above board but he is ready to clarify any contentious issue to investigating organs including the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Kamau also added that proper procedures were followed before the tender was awarded to a Chinese company.

Kamau further said critics of the project were the same ones who failed to win the tender

This comes after Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter raised an alarm insisting that he was ready to provide facts that will prove that the project is a cash cow.

Two committees, the Public Investments Committee and The Transport Committee have been given the greenlight to probe the tender

Keter is among the eleven personalities scheduled to appear before the parliamentary Public Investments Committee that has already embarked on the probe

The chairman of the committee Aden Keynan says an independent analyst has already provided a comparative cost of the construction of the railway from Mombasa to Nairobi.

The Cabinet Secretary and Principal Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure have been summoned to appear before the two committees
