Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan promises better roads for voters

Kamkunji Member of Parliament, Yusuf Hassan, has launched an ambitious manifesto as he seeks another term in office in the forthcoming August 8 elections.

The policy document dubbed “Maendeleo Wazi Wazi” aims at improving roads network, cleaning up markets, resolving housing problems and youth empowerment in Kamukunji Constituency.

Speaking while launching the manifesto at California Resource Center in Majengo, Hassan who is vying on a Jubilee Party ticket, appealed to Kamukunji residents to re-elect him due to his track record for the 6 years he has served as area Legislator.

“As I seek for re-election in the August 8 polls, I promise to fully implement my manifesto which has detailed how I will utilize resources allocated to our constituency to improve education, health and infrastructure standards in Kamkunji,” said the MP during the well-attended event.

Hassan becomes the first MP to launch his manifesto detailing how he will use the Constituency development Fund for the next five years if he is re-elected.

Hassan was first elected into parliament in a by election in August 2011 on a Party of National Unity (PNU) ticket after the High Court declared the 2007 election of Simon Mbugua in Kamukunji constituency null and void on January 27, 2011.

In March 2013, Hassan was re-elected on a The National Alliance (TNA) party ticket in the general election, for a second term as an MP for the Kamukunji Constituency.

The MP previously served as UNHCR’s Regional Communications Manager in Nairobi and also Director of IRIN, a UN news organization from 2006 to 2007.
