Kang’ata accuses Kembi Gitura of playing dirty politics

Kiharu MP Irungu Kang’ata has condemned Murang’a Senator and County Deputy Assembly Speaker Kembi Gitura for what he termed as personal attacks and using goons to disrupt his events.

Kanga’ta claimed that Kembi has been targeting him with personal attacks after he declared his senatorial bid for 2017.

The MP added that he believed they should conduct mature politics and was perturbed by Kembi’s actions as he (Kembi) remains a personal friend to him.

“Gitura said that the senatorial work does not extend to philanthropic work like medical camps that I have been conducting in Murang’a, but I want to differ with that. It is good to have philanthropic and humanitarian ideas to touch the people and remain relevant,” said Kang’ata, claiming that he has been doing medical camps ever since he was a councillor sometimes using his personal resources.

He took issue with some young people who he claimed were hired to disrupt his event at Kenol as he launched his manifesto two weeks ago, saying they were distributing pamphlets with negative messages about him.

“I want to condemn such actions and insults and insist that Senator Kembi will remain my friend and my senior counsel and I will not insult him,” said he.

He claimed that Kembi also said that if elected, he (Kang’ata) would not provide oversight or criticize the county government, claims which he denied saying that as an MP he is more focused on development but would be switching to an oversight role if elected as the senator.
