Kangundo MP arrested over drunk driving

Kangundo MP arrested over drunk driving

Police on Saturday morning arrested Kangundo Member of Parliament Fabian Kyule for alleged drunk driving.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet said the MP was highly intoxicated and was arrested after crashing into a wall of a night club in Nairobi as he attempted to drive off.

The IG further noted that the MP turned hostile against the security guards who had rushed to rescue him after ramming into the wall.

“He should thank the police for arresting him as he was totally sloshed. We shudder to imagine what could have happened on his way home,” said Boinnet.

The lawmaker was detained at Parklands Police Station together with 46 other motorists arrested for flouting road safety rules.

The MP is set to spend the weekend in custody pending arraignment on Monday.

A multi-agency team drawn from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and National Police Service has been deployed on the roads to ensure compliance of safety rules aimed at reducing road carnage.
