KANU expels Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno, asks him to seek fresh mandate

The Gideon Moi-led KANU party has resolved to expel Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno for disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta.

During a televised statement on Tuesday, KANU Secretary General Nick Salat said the MP will have to go back to seek fresh mandate from the people.

“The people of Emuarua Dikirr will have to choose between peace and anarchy, the way Ng’eno has behaved, we have to part ways, we apologise to the office of the people he mentioned adversely,” Salat said.

Salat further explained that the legislator’s words were capable of precipitating violence on such as scale that was witnessed in 2007.

Ng’eno who was arrested on Monday from his home in Narok will be spending two more nights at the police cells pending a ruling on his bail application on Thursday.

On Tuesday, the DPP gave a go ahead for the prosecution of the MP for Hate Speech, contrary to section 13 of the National Cohesion and Intergration Act 2008 and offensice conduct conducive to breaches of peace contrary to section 94 of the penal code.

In a stament to media houses, the DPP noted that the utterances by the legislator had the capabilities of breaching peace in the Trans Mara region.

The latest has attracted the attention of leaders and civilians, with the ODM party sending a strongly-worded statement to DP Ruto, asking him to resign from the government.

The party accused Ruto of sending his allies to insult the president and then pretending to be telling them to stop.

“Kwa Naibu Rais William Ruto, Asimamishe hiyo tabia chafu ambayo ameanza ya kutusi serikali ambayo yeye ni Naibu Rais. Kama ametosheka na serikali na amefika kiwango ya kuwa Rais wa Kenya atoke nje, apambane nje kama sisi (To Ruto, just quit if you are tired of the government, you can criticise it from the outside like us), ” Minority Whip Junet said.
