KANU-Jubilee rift plays out ahead of Uhurus Baringo visit
Showdown is looming among Jubilee Party and its affiliated parties ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to Baringo County on Sunday.
Jubilee nominees have strongly said that the long-awaited visit will be a Jubilee-only affair.
Speaking on Thursday, July 6 during a strategy meeting at a Baringo hotel, Jubilee aspirants said no other affiliate parties are welcome to attend the rallies that are scheduled to start on Saturday.
“The visit by the President will be a Jubilee affair since you have not seen other affiliate parties in this meeting,” said Stanely Kiptis, the Baringo gubernatorial candidate, while addressing press after the strategy meeting.
The expected visit comes after a number of postponements which political pundits attribute to the rising political supremacy battles between Deputy President William Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
The incumbent Senator is battling out with Jubilee’s Simion Chelugui in the county’s senatorial race.
