Kapsabet police discover illicit brew hidden in a toilet

Police in Kapsabet town have destroyed illicit brew worth over Ksh500, 000.

The officers conducted an impromptu inspection at Kapsabet town after members of the public raised alarm over a cartel involved in hiding liquor during the ongoing war on illicit brew

Led by Kapsabet Assistant County Commissioner Mrs. Stella Wanyella, the officers Friday night uncovered a major illicit liquor den and managed to net over 500 boxes of illicit liquor.

Officers discovered numerous bottles of banned liquor hidden in one of the toilets in town.

According to the police, Mrs. Falcon Chebichii used to sell the banned drinks to locals late into the night.

Unhappy with the seizure, Chichi accused police officers of engaging in corruption. She argued that she had invested heavily in the business and she was servicing loans to support it.

Devious methods

Wanyiella said that illicit liquor sellers have been devising new ways to escape arrests.

The sellers are transporting the liquor at night and quietly selling them toilets, thus making it hard for law enforcers to discover them.

Despite the devious methods, Wanyiella affirmed that her office would spare no efforts in combating the vice.

Residents gathered to witness the burning of second generation alcohol under tight security.
