Karua demands the resignation of Health CS Mailu, PS Muraguri over graft

NARC Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has demanded that the government makes public a list of all companies that have been awarded government tenders and projects since it came to power in 2013.

Karua said this would ensure transparency on how the government awards procurement in the wake of the latest scandal at Afya House where questions have been raised about awarding contracts.

Speaking at the party headquarters, the NARC Kenya leader has demanded resignation of Health CS Cleopa Mailu and PS Nicholas Muraguri to allow probe into the latest multi-billion shilling scam.

Karua further claims that Mailu’s recent announcement that no money was lost as alleged and ordering an external audit is part of a cover-up by the ministry bosses as they insist Ksh3.2 billion and not Ksh5 billion has audit queries.

Last week, the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission alongside the Ministry of Health set up special teams to investigate the alleged loss saying that their report will be released in 30 days.

The two companies; Estama Investments, registered as an EPZ company, and Life Care Medics, are said to be beneficiaries of cash meant for patients, expectant mothers and newborn babies in the free maternity programme offered by the government.
