Karua: I Will Vie For Presidency Come 2017

Karua: I Will Vie For Presidency Come 2017

Ms Karua, who unsuccessfully contested for the Presidential seat in the 2013 General Elections under the NARC Kenya banner, has announced that she will be in the race come 2017.

Karua, who was presiding over the Girls Education Forum in Ndhiwa constituency, Homa Bay County and organized by Women Representative Gladys Wanga, said that her bid to assume the top most office in the country is still on course.

The tough spoken former MP accused the Jubilee Government of failing to provide good leadership to the Kenyan citizenry despite the many promises contained in their manifesto during the electioneering period.

Karua faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto of failing to address basic necessities such as the huge wage bill, the ever escalating cost of living, high unemployment rates, and poor infrastructure among others.

RESERVED SEATS

She noted that the country is in dire need of a Manager and not a politician who can offer development focused leadership.

She further noted that she had since realized what went wrong in the 2013 elections and such faults must be addressed before the 2017 elections.

Further, Karua challenged women to come out in large numbers and contest for elective seats in the next elections so that they can have a role to play in decision making.

She challenged them not only to bank on the constitutionally reserved seats but also to engage in highly competitive positions.

In the 2013 elections, Karua garnered a total of 43,881 votes, placing her a distant sixth position from President Kenyatta who garnered slightly over six million votes.
