Kasese death toll hits 126

Twenty five more civilians and guards have been confirmed dead in Maliba and Bugoye sub counties in Kasese District following heavy clashes between Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) officers and Rwenzururu Kingdom security guards.

Rwenzori East Police spokesperson, Sowed Mansur, confirmed that with the discovery of 25 more bodies the current death toll is at 126.

Addressing the press, Mansur confirmed that the police operation to clear off Rwenzururu security guards who are currently at large is still on.

Meanwhile the king of Rwenzururu Kingdom, Omusinga charles Wisely Mumbere, was arraigned today in Uganda High Court and Supreme Court  where he was found guilty of rabble-rousing violence.
