Kavuludi Backs Interdiction of Police Officers

He says the Inspector General of police David Kimaiyo was right to take action against officers who failed to tackle illicit brew in their areas of jurisdiction.

 

Kavuludi was speaking in Embu, an area that was hard hit by the recent deaths from illicit brew.

 

His sentiments follows a decision by the gvernment to interdict 52 senior government officers from areas where people died after consuming the deadly brew.

 

At least 80 people were killed in over 4 counties after they consumed the brew laced with methanol.

 

Over 150 other people were hospitalized as a result of partaking the killer brew.

 

According to Kavuludi, the Inspector General of police followed due process in taking the action against the OCPDs, OCS from the affected areas.

 

Kavuludi emphasized that the management of security must be not taken lightly and that it requires concerted efforts.

 

He further pointed out that the management and implementation of policies within the police force lay fully on the Inspector General.

 

Kavuludi who was speaking in Embu also said that the vetting of police officers will resume next week with Eastern region officers being urged to prepare for the exercise.
