KCB appoints Andrew Wambari Kairu as Group Chairman

Kenya Commercial Bank, East Africa’s largest commercial bank in asset base has appointed Mr. Andrew Wambari Kairu as the new chair of the Group Board of Directors.

Mr. Kairu’s appointment, which took effect on Wednesday, October 24 sees him take over from Mr. Ngeny Biwott who chaired the Group Board since 2013.

Speaking when announcing the appointment, KCB Group CEO Joshua Oigara, said the company is looking forward to Mr. Kairu’s leadership.

“He has extensive business and technical experience that is aligned and central to KCB transformation journey into the future,” Mr. Oigara said while thanking Mr. Biwott for his astute leadership and stewardship of
the bank over the years.

Mr. Kairu, who has over 20 years of executive experience in the financial sector, with extensive experience in banking thanked the board for the appointment and pledged to work with the board members and management.

Prior to his appointment, he was an Independent Non-Executive Director at KCB Plc and KCB Bank Kenya.
