KCC is not exploiting us farmers

Dairy farmers from Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Kirinyaga refute claims that Kenya Cooperative Creamery (KCC) is exploiting farmers, claiming that the allegations come from private milk processers who want to tarnish KCC’s reputation.

Led by the chairman Leonard Kaanake, the cooperative members said that private firms are spreading lies about the cooperative’s financial stability.

Kanake said that the onslaught is pure propaganda and farmers should not to panic since the New KCC is stable and fair.

He said that the new KCC at Runyenjes plant has over 5,000 members who deliver up 44,000 liters of milk from the farmers daily.

Kanake said that KCC pays farmers Ksh33 per litre, adding that they pay promptly, hitting back at claims about delayed payments.

Michael Gitonga Njeru said that it was only through New KCC where farmers can be able to restore the dairy sector.

The farmers were speaking in Embu town.
