KCPE candidate found dead four days after going missing

Police in Kisumu are investigating an incident where a standard eight pupil was found dead in a school pond after being reported missing for four days.

According to reports, 17-year-old Eliakim Otien Ongus, a candidate at Roseate Primary School from Ayucho sub-location in Nyando sub-county on Monday, February 13, 2017 went to draw water from the school pond after his classmates had already settled in for their evening preps but never returned.

Kisumu County Commissioner, Maalim Mohamed, told Citizen Digital that his classmates alerted the head teacher who later informed the deceased’s father immediately about his disappearance who in turn reported to the police.

Mohammed further revealed that the victims’ body was discovered in the pond by a school carpenter.

The body has since been removed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
