KCPE candidate to sit exams in hospital after parents burnt his hands

A Class Eight pupil whose hands were burnt by his parents over a mobile phone is still recuperating at Ahero Sub-County Hospital as rehearsals for KCPE exams kick off on Monday.

The 14-year-old boy, who is a candidate at Kasuna Primary School in Nyando, is likely to sit his examinations at the Ahero Sub-county Hospital.

Well wishers who visited him at the hospital say the teenager is responding well to treatment for the burn wounds and is hoping to write his exams on Tuesday.

His parents Rose Akoth and Ojoro Omuya are still remanded at Ahero Police Station after the court in Nyando allowed them to be detained pending conclusion of investigations.

The two are scheduled to take plea at the same court as their son sits his KCPE exams in hospital.

The boy’s parents, his biological father and step mother, are said to have wrapped his hands with newspapers, doused them with paraffin before setting his hands on fire accusing him of stealing a mobile phone.
