KCPE Results For 2014 Released

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi presided over the release of the exams results at Mitihani House, Nairobi.

For the first time, schools and candidates were not ranked according to their performance in the national exams.

This is because the Ministry of Education has abolished the old system of ranking saying demerits of the system far outweigh merits.

In the exams, more than 5,500 candidates attained over 401 marks out of 500 marks.

Speaking during the release of the results at the Kenya National Examinations Council head offices,Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi said that 1,702 candidates engaged in some form of irregularities.

The CS observed that most of those who engaged in cheating colluded with candidates.

Kaimenyi said it was disheartening that teachers and parents too were found to have colluded.

Professor Kaimenyi pointed out that cheating was high in Kiswahili and English exams.

Over 800,000 candidates sat the 2014 KCPE exams.

Candidates are required to send their Index number to SMS number 22252 to get their results instantly.
