KCSE candidate arrested over torching of houses in Baringo

A Form Four student awaiting to sit his KCSE exam this year has been arrested in connection with the burning of houses at Kamelilo Village in Baringo County.

The student’s father said police stormed their house at 2 am on Friday and arrested his son.

Abdul Awad Ali, 18, from Kamelilo Day Secondary School is accused of a having a connection with a group of arsonists who torched down eight houses on Thursday last week.

Four others were arrested in relation to the incident.

The torched houses belong to relatives of a suspected rapist, who allegedly defiled a Form Four student.

Reports about the release of the alleged rapist angered some of the residents, leading to the burning down of his relatives’ houses.

Koibatek OCPD Agnes Kamau said investigations are still ongoing and more people would be arrested.
