KCSE candidate arrested with ‘leaked’ exam papers

A Form Four student at Kitondo Secondary School in Mbooni, Makueni County has been arrested for allegedly being in possession of suspected Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exam leakage.

Mbooni East OCPD Peter Njeru said that the school principal, Pascal Musyimi, informed the police that the student was in possession of the suspected exam leakage in soft copy form on his phone.

“Mr Pascal Musyimi informed the police that the student was accompanied by his mother Mantina Wavinya to school after being expelled on September 12 for being in possession of a phone. He was then asked to unlock the phone and that was when he was found in possession of  the ‘leakage’ in the gadget,” Njeru said.

The OCPD said that the student was found with Business Studies Paper 2 and a several other exam questions in other subjects which were saved in the Whatsapp images folder in the phone’s gallery.

Njeru said that the phone has been sent to the Kenya National Examinations Council headquarters in Nairobi so that the copies in his possession can be analyzed.

Ministry of Education officials are expected to comment on the matter later on Tuesday.
