KCSE Candidate collapses, dies in Nakuru

A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate from Jomo Kenyatta High school in Nakuru collapsed and died on Monday, whilst undergoing treatment at Bahati Sub county Hospital, Nakuru.

Francis Gikonyo, who was admitted after his hypertension worsened, died shortly after the exam kicked off.

Confirming the incident, the School Principal Mr John Mureithi said that the student has had a history of high blood pressure which had in the past interfered with his school attendance.

The condition got out of hand just hours before he sat for his exam, and he was rushed to hospital around 6 am.

The principal described Gikonyo as a hardworking and promising student.

He stated that the school is organizing counseling sessions for all the candidates.
