KCSE candidate dies during delivery in Homa Bay

A candidate sitting this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination died during labour on Monday morning.

Faith Atieno Ouko was writing her exams at Kakimba Mixed Secondary School in Suba North sub-county, Homa Bay County.

Confirming the incident, Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum said the girl died after developing complications during delivery at the county referral hospital.

Ms. Ouko is among many other KCSE candidates who have lost their lives during this examination period in varied circumstances.

Javan Onyango, 17-year-old student at DC Mixed Secondary School in Randung’ village, Homa Bay County, on Sunday morning succumbed to injuries sustained while playing football at the school compound after Friday’s papers.

Toddy Otieno Ouma, a student at Atemo Mixed Secondary School in Rachuonyo East Sub-county, collapsed and died on Tuesday last week while playing football alongside other candidates in the school compound after completing the day’s exams.
