KDF kill 5 Al-Shabaab militants that attacked Ijara police camp in Garissa
Officers from the Kenya defense forces killed five suspected Al Shaabab militants who are believed to be behind the Ijara police station attack.
In a statement, KDF spokesman colonel David Obonyo said the troops caught up with the terrorists as they tried to get to the Somali border on Sunday evening killing five of them.
Obonyo further indicated that in the ensuing, fire fight bomb making materials that were being ferried in the stolen land cruiser belonging to the Ijara police station however exploded destroying the vehicle.
A motorcycle suspected to have been stolen in Ijara , 5AK rifles , 13 magazines with 370 rounds of ammunition , 2 grenades, bomb making materials, and personal items were also recovered.
According to Obonyo, the troops are still in pursuit of other terrorists who fled with injuries to the general area of Sarira, 25 kilometers North of Baure.
The KDF spokesman appealed to members of the public to report any suspicious people with bullet wounds seeking medical attention.
This comes barely three days after suspected Al Shabaab Militants attacked the Ijara police station, stealing a police land cruiser and burning a section of the AP camp.
