KDF kill 30 Al Shabaab militants in Sunday operation
Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers in Somalia have killed more than 30 Al-Shabab militants and injured others in a clash at Baadhadhe District, the KDF has said.
According to a statement from KDF, an unknown number of the terrorists escaped with fatal injuries while KDF soldiers managed to destroy two vehicles belonging to the militia group and recover 11 AK-47 riffles, more than 600 rounds of ammunition, two PKM Machine guns, communication systems and four improvised explosives alongside food and other items during the Sunday evening operation.
KDF spokesman, Col Joseph Owuoth, said KDF ground troops were supported by attack helicopters and artillery fire to access the terrorists’ base and two command and logistic bases located 17 kilometres from Sarira near Hola Wajeer.
The destroyed terrorist camp in Baadhere area is said to be a logistics and command centre believed to be covering the terror network in the vast Jubaland district.
This comes just a week after President Uhuru paid an impromptu visit to a KDF Camp in Somalia.
