KDF soldier killed, 3 others injured after vehicle overturns in Kirinyaga

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier was on Wednesday crushed to death and three others seriously injured when their vehicle overturned at Riandira on Makutano-Sagana Road in Kirinyaga County.

Confirming the incident, Mwea West OCPD Owour Wenda said the soldier died on the spot while the others – who sustained hand fractures — were taken to the nearby Sagana Hospital before later being transferred to a Nairobi hospital for specialised treatment.

According to Mr. Wenda, the  soldiers were heading to Nairobi from Nanyuki when the Land Rover vehicle they were travelling in developed a tyre burst and rolled several times.

The vehicle was extensively damaged and has since been towed to the local police station.

The area police boss further added that the body of the deceased is currently being preserved at a local mortuary and will be handed over to his family for a proper burial.
