Keep Off Baringo Affairs, Leaders Warn West Pokot Senator

Led by Baringo Central MP Sammy Mwaita, the leaders accused Lunyangapuo of engaging in political and social affairs of Baringo County rather than concentrating in addressing issues facing his county.

Mwaita argues that the West Pokot Senator has been vocal in criticising Baringo over the rising insecurity instead of addressing the same issue from his end.

The Baringo leaders further say that Lonyangapuo should serve the people of West Pokot in accordance to Article 96 of the constitution of Kenya 2010 which states that Senators deal with matters in concerning their counties only.

The leaders were speaking during a fundraiser in Kipsoit Primary School.

Mr. Mwaita further challenged the government to channel more development resources to northern Kenya as a way of addressing the rising cases of insecurity.

Mwaita says the only way to eradicate insecurity in Baringo County is through development and creation of jobs for the marginalised communities.

He said that the government should open up roads in places like Tiaty so that people will have alternative source of livelihood other than keeping livestock which has been a source of conflict in the area.

He further challenged the government to recruit the youth from the area to the National Youth Service so that they can help in the development of the county and the country at large.
