Keep off Raila, Rasanga tells Duale

Siaya County Governor Cornel Rasanga has told National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale to keep off Siaya county affairs.

Governor Rasanga was speaking in reference to Duale’s criticism against Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga whom he accused of allegedly feeding on corruption in counties held by the opposition coalition’s governors.

Governor Rasanga claimed that he is the one who seeks financial help from the former premier, and not the other way round.

“I want to [make it] very clear that I have never given Raila Amollo Odinga a shilling, if anything it is Raila who gives me money,” Rasanga said.

The governor was speaking in Ugunja Town, Siaya County during the launch of a national identity cards mass registration drive.

The Siaya County governor said that Duale and his Jubilee compatriots’ allegations against Raila Odinga are aimed at discrediting the CORD leader in the run up to the 2017 General Election.

“Let him tame his mouth and table the evidence of what he is alleging to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission for further action, rather than soiling our names for political expediency,” he said.

Rasanga urged the National Assembly majority leader to keep off issues relating to Raila Odinga reminding him “Raila is not his equal.”

Governor Rasanga threatened to abandon his gubernatorial re-election bid for a parliamentary seat so as to “meet him (Duale) head on” if he persists attacking Raila Odinga.
