KeNHA suspends work at Witeithie on Thika Superhighway

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has suspended all works at the Witeithie site on Thika Superhighway following public uproar over traffic gridlock in the area.

KeNHA, in a statement released Tuesday, reiterated its earlier stance that traffic continues to flow normally despite the heavy snarl up that has been witnessed in the past two days.

The authority further stated that the contractor will hence only resume works at the site on December 27 and December 28, 2019.

“KeNHA has further instructed the contractor to ensure that traffic flow is only diverted within the notified timelines between 11pm and 4am,” read the statement.

The authority had earlier stated that the contractor experienced a hiccup when hoisting the superstructure for the pedestrian footbridge on Monday night, hence leading to the traffic gridlock witnessed Tuesday morning.
