Kenya announces 151 new coronavirus cases, 173 recoveries

Kenya has announced 151 new coronavirus infections tested from a sample size of 2552  between Monday and Tuesday.

This pushes the total number of cases in the country so far to 35,356 and the total of cumulative tests done so far to 479,697 samples.

The new cases include 149 Kenyans and two foreigners aged between 3 and 74-years-old.

The Ministry of Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman also announced that for the first time since the pandemic was reported, more women than men had tested positive; 77 of the new cases are female while 74 are male.

The cases are distributed across the country as follows: Kitui(54), Nairobi (23), Uasin Gishu (11), Kiambu, Migori and Garissa (9) cases each, Kisii (7), Trans Nzoia (6), Narok (4), Kericho(3), Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Machakos, Kilifi and Busia (2) cases each, Laikipia, Bomet, Nakuru, Meru. Kajiado and Nyandarua (1) case each.

In Kitui, the (54) cases are in: Kitui Central (27), Kitui Rural and Kitui West (8) cases each, Mwingi Central (5), Kitui East (4), Kitui South and Mwingi North (1) case each.

In Nairobi, the (23) cases are in: Embakasi South (4), Westlands (3), Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South, Embakasi West, Makadara and Ruaraka (2) cases each, Embakasi East, Embakasi North, Kibra, Langata, Roysambu and Starehe (1) case each.

In Uasin Gishu, the (11) cases are from: Ainamoi (10) and Soi (1).

In Kiambu, the (9) cases are in: Kiambaa, Kiambu Town, Ruiru and Thika (2) cases each and Lari (1)

Kenya has also announced 173 new recoveries; 107 from the home-based care system while 66 have been discharged from various hospitals.

The total number of recoveries in the country now stands at 21,483.

Kenya did not record any coronavirus deaths between Monday and Tuesday. The total number of fatalities so far stands at 599.
