Kenya announces 164 new coronavirus cases, 156 recoveries and 5 deaths

164 people have tested positive for the new coronavirus in Kenya, the Ministry of Health said in a statement on Saturday.

The new cases are from 3009 samples and push the tally of confirmed cases to 33,794 cases.

445,722 samples have been tested since the pandemic was first reported in the country.

158 of the new cases are Kenyans while 6 are foreigners aged between six months and 89 years old.

In terms of gender, 90 of the new cases are males while 74 are females.

The new cases are distributed in the country as follows:

Nairobi (56), Machakos (24), Kajiado (15), Uasin Gishu (14), Taita Taveta (11), Nakuru (8), Busia (6), Kiambu (5), Kilifi (5), Mombasa (4), Turkana (4), Lamu (4), Nyandarua (2), Kisumu (1), Nyeri (1), Makueni (1), Garrisa (1), Meru (1) and Kirinyaga (1).

At the same time, the number of recoveries rose to 19,500 after 156 patients recovered between Friday and Saturday.

113 of the patients were under the home-based care system while 43 had been admitted to various hospitals.

The Ministry of Health also announced 5 new coronavirus fatalities, which raise the coronavirus death toll to 572.
